On Sunday the 4th of October, Barash, Michal Vinik's first feature film, was awarded the Best Screenplay, Best Actress (for Sivan Noam Shimon) and Best Actor (for Dvir Benedek) at the Haifa International Film Festival.

The Jury consisted of: Mohsen Makhmalbaf - Chairman - filmmaker (Iran) / Karel Och - Artistic Director, Karlovy Vary Festival (Czech Republic) / Laurence Kardish – Former Chief Film Curater at MoMA (USA) / Yvonne Miklosh - cinematographer and filmmaker (Israel) / Julie Schlez - filmmaker and producer (Israel).

The Jury on the Best Screenplay Award: "A fresh, authentic and bitter outlook on the Israeli existence that still manages to smile."

The Jury on the Best Actress Award: "A delicate and convincing portrayal of a young woman at an important crossroad."

The Jury on the Best Actor Award: "An energetic and memorable performance."

The film recently had its premiere at the prestigious San Sebastian International Film Festival.

The film competed in the "New Directors" program, with 12 other directors from around the world and their first or second feature films.

Vinik participated in the Lab's very first edition, in 2011. During her time, she worked and improved her script with the Lab's script doctors, as well as with her fellow participants. The film's acceptance into the festival coincided with Adriano Valerio's Banat premiering at the Venice Film Festival.

Barash tells the story of 17-year-old Naama, who falls in love with another girl while her sister is M.I.A. in the army.
