About

Virgins

In the poor sleepy town of Kiryat Yam, a fisherman claims he’s seen a mermaid. But Lana (15), stuck between her mom’s dreams of saving her empty café and her half sister’s dreams about princesses, couldn’t care less about mermaids. Blunt and shameless, Lana doesn’t dream, she provokes.

And that’s what attracts Chiki (30) to her. A deadbeat, subversive poet, Chiki’s in town to write about the municipal elections, but captivated by Lana, he writes his article on the mermaid.

His article jolts the town from its torpor. The cunning mayor jumps on the occasion, offering a million dollars for proof of the mermaid’s existence, and in no time the town is teeming with journalists looking for a scoop and tourists dying to catch a glimpse of this feminine monster.

During this media circus where everyone tries to benefit from the mermaid, Chiki and Lana drift into a game of force and desire, which becomes dangerous for him but a revelation for her.
