Shai Carmeli Pollak


Shai graduated from Tel-Aviv University film school in 1996. A short film he made during the second year of his studies, Ready for Love, was screened at cinemas prior to the feature film.


Since the completion of his studies, Shai has acquired experience in a wide range of cinematic fields – fiction, documentary and animation - as a writer, director and editor.

For Channel 2 he directed and co-created a series that was based on a comics called Zbeng. For that same channel he co-wrote and directed a TV drama called Abramov. He also directed a short film called The Slimy Gang and a series for kids called De Gama Brothers for The Childrens Channel.

In the animation field, Shai co-wrote and directed two series for kids – Zolgar and Pupkin Conquer the World and Mikmak. He has also co-written and directed an animation feature film, based on the TV series Mikmak, called – The Journey to the planet of the Minimiks.

In the documentary field, Shai has made two documentary films - Bilin My Love and Refugees. Both films won many awards and were screened in numerous film festivals and TV channels around the world. Shai made those films not only as a film maker, but rather as a political activist, seeking to change reality.


The Voice of the Sea will be Shai's second feature film.
