Margarita Linton-Balaklav

 

Margarita was born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1984, and moved to Israel in 1989.

She graduated from the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem in 2012. During her studies, she won the Class of 2012 Promising Director Award.

 

While at Sam Spiegel, she directed The Tale of Yona and the Sad Tree (15 min, fiction) was screened in festivals worldwide and won Best Short Narrative at the 2012 Haifa Film Festival and Best Short Film at the 2012 Jewish Film Festival in Jerusalem.

Her thesis film - Ketupa (20 min, fiction) was screened at festivals worldwide and won Best Cinematography at the Tel Aviv University Student Film Festival.

Life is Anywhere Else will be Margarita's first feature-length film.
