Mikko Myllylahti

 

Was born and raised in Tornio, Lapland in 1980.

Mikko is also a graduate from ELO Helsinki Film School where he studied screenwriting and fiction directing and received his MA in 2012. As a director he has worked on several short films that have shown in major festivals, most notably Love in Vain (Premiere in Locarno 2009), The Pyramid (Student Prize in Tampere 2012) and Handbag (Best Nordic Short Film Nominee 2013).

 

He is also the co-writer of a feature film currently in production, The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki, a Finnish-Swedish-German co-production

He has a background as a poet: his four published collections have received critical acclaim and awards in Finland since 2003, when his debut The Heated Engines of Cars After Homecoming was released.

The Woodcutter’s Story will be his first feature film.
