Jonathan Dekel

Project: Checkout

Previous achievements:

"APRIL FOOL'S" (Short)

Israeli Academy Award for Best Short, 2015; Winner Best Short, Jerusalem Film Festival, 2014;

Sundance Screenwriting Lab, Istanbul, 2016.

Jonathan grew up between Israel and Los Angeles.
His grad film in the Sam Spiegel School of Film & Television was APRIL FOOL'S, which was shot on an iPhone for less than a $1K and eventually won the Israeli Academy's Ophir Award, among others.

Jonathan directed and wrote episodes for leading national broadcasters- Keshet, Reshet, YES- and made music videos for some of Israel's top musicians.

CHECKOUT, his debut feature film, was developed in a Sundance Screenwriters Lab, and is largely based on urban legends he and his co-writer Shai Satran encountered during their service in the Israeli Intelligence Corps.

He lives in the bi-national community of Wahat al-Salam/Neve Shalom, husband to Neta and father to Noam and Ronni.

Checkout will be Jonathan's first feature film.
