Becoming Part of the Lab

Target Participants

TARGET PARTICIPANTS: directors-writers from all over the world, developing a 1st or 2nd fiction feature film. The Lab is aimed for projects in an advanced stage of development (full script, in pre-production).

Open to 12 projects, the Lab lasts 8 months, from January to July, and foresees 2 residential workshops in Jerusalem. At the end of the programme the projects are invited to the Lab's pitching event to be pitched in front of producers and sales agents, during the Jerusalem Film Festival. On this occasion, an international jury assigns two production grants to the best projects that have been developed, totaling in $70,000.

Throughout the entire duration of the Jerusalem based activities, the Film Lab will fully host the Film Lab participants from across the world and from Israel, and will provide local transportation, lodging and board (breakfast and lunch: full meals; dinner: partial meal).

Participants must pay all air-travel costs. In many countries bursaries and scholarships are available for this kind of training.

Film Lab participants whose scripts are selected by the Film Lab as those most fit for production, will reach the third, concluding stage of presenting the scripts before a panel of judges at the Jerusalem Film Festival, while accompanied by a producer who is affiliated with a known, reputable production company. Expenses incurred in the air travel of the producer, his lodging and meals will be borne by the producer/production company and in no way whatsoever by the Film Lab. The director and producer will present the panel of judges with details of the film’s budget and initial or advanced funding sources.

Participation Fee: 1,000 Euro
