Ritesh Batra 


Ritesh Batra was born and raised in Mumbai.


His feature script 'The Story of Ram' was part of the Sundance Screenwriters and Directors labs in 2009. His short films have been exhibited at many international film festivals and fine arts venues. His recent Arab language short 'Café Regular, Cairo' screened at over 40 international film festivals and won 12 awards. Regular was acquired by Franco-German broadcaster, Arte.


His feature debut 'The Lunchbox' (English, Hindi) starring Irrfan Khan, Nawazuddin Siddique, and Nimrat Kaur, was shot on location in Mumbai in 2012. 'The Lunchbox’ premiered at the Semaine De La Critique at the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival and has since screened at the Sarajevo, Telluride and Toronto Intl Film Festival to rave reviews and was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics.


Photograph will be his second feature film.
