Nora Martirosyan

 

Born in 1973 in Armenia, Nora Martirosyan is an artist and a film director living in working in France, Italy, and Armenia.

 

After her studies in in an Art School in the Netherlands she continued with the residency programs in Le Fresnoy (France) and Rijksakademie (Amsterdam). 

 

She has directed several award-winning short films, like “Courant d’air” awarded with Grand Prix du Jury at the International Film Festival in Belfort, France; “1937” awarded at FID Marseille, and at Black Maria Film and Video festival, USA, among others.

 

In 2004 she was awarded with Barbara Aronofsky Latham Memorial Award at Cinematexas, USA.

 

In 2010 her film “1937” received the “Quality prize” of CNC.

 

The New Media Collection of Centre Pompidou purchased two of her films.
 

After several years of teaching in art schools in France, she was a resident in Villa Medicis, French Academy in Rome for one-year period.

 

She is co-founder of the production company heolfilms, which is developing Territoria, which will be Nora’s first full-length feature. It has participated in Fabrique de Cinemas du Monde, in Cannes (where it received the Arte International Prize) and in Open Doors, Locarno in 2013.
