LOGLINE

Terrified by the implications of their psychologist’s suicide on their own well-being, four orphaned patients set out to prove that their therapist was in fact murdered.

SYNOPSIS

Yotam is obsessed with thoughts of suicide, but years of therapy have convinced him that he’s not in real danger – until his therapist goes and kills himself. Terrified he’ll suffer the same fate, Yotam teams up with three other orphaned patients to prove their shrink was actually murdered. As their bumbling investigation begins to bear fruit, the danger escalates, leaving the group exposed and vulnerable – with only each other to lean on.

WRITER'S STATEMENT

My therapist cancels a session for health reasons, and so begets a crisis: what happens when he dies? No Hallmark card for that. I imagine furtively seeking out other clients at the funeral. Who but they would understand my loss? These are the dramatic seeds for “I’m Afraid That’s Our Time,” planted with my writing partner Nitai in the well-tilled soil of murder-mystery, watered with comedic irony and existential dread, growing now, we hope, into a story about love, death, friendship - and becoming the humans we want to be.

PRODUCER'S STATEMENT

What we love about "I'm Afraid That's Our Time" is its ability to tackle the painful subject of suicide in an engaging and immersive way, without losing the depth of the dramatic questions that our protagonist, Yotam, and the audience face. The series' universal themes make it relatable to viewers worldwide, and we believe it will resonate across different cultures and audiences.
